Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. The ancient rock fortress is located in the northern Matale District, surrounded by lush forests, gardens, and waterways. Sigiriya is believed to have been built in the 5th century AD by King Kasyapa, who sought refuge on the rock after usurping the throne from his father.
